About TechSuggestions
Picking the right tool shouldn't take longer than the assignment.
TechSuggestions is a small, independent site that helps students figure out which AI and productivity tools are actually worth their time — for writing, research, presentations, notes, and everything in between. No hype, no sponsored top picks, just a straight answer for a specific use case.
The honest rule we hold ourselves to: if we wouldn't recommend it to a friend, it doesn't go on the site.
Why this site exists
Too many tool reviews are written to sell you something.
Search for almost any AI tool comparison and you'll find a dozen pages that all rank the same paid product first, regardless of what you actually need it for. TechSuggestions started as a way to cut through that: task-first recommendations, built around how students actually work, not around who pays the highest commission.
We are not a large publication and we don't claim to have tested every tool on the market. What we do publish is based on hands-on use, publicly available pricing and feature information, and a clear point of view about who each tool is actually for.
How we work
Three rules behind every page on this site.
We start from the task, not the tool
Most "best AI tool" content is written backwards — it starts with a tool the writer wants to promote and works back to a use case. We start with a real student task (write an essay, organise notes, cut a video) and only then compare what actually helps.
Free beats paid when free is genuinely enough
If the free plan of a tool solves your problem, that is what we recommend — even on pages where a paid alternative pays us more. Our comparison verdicts are based on fit, not commission size.
Pages get updated, not just published
Tools change pricing, features, and quality often. Every page lists when it was last updated, and we revisit older pages as tools evolve instead of leaving them frozen at launch.
How we make money
Affiliate disclosure.
Some of the links on TechSuggestions are affiliate links. If you sign up for a tool through one of those links, we may earn a commission — at no extra cost to you. This is how the site stays free to read and independently run.
Commission does not decide the winner of a comparison. We recommend the tool we think genuinely fits the use case described on the page, including free tools, and including tools we have no affiliate relationship with at all.
Found something wrong, or missing?
Tool pricing and features change often, and we'd rather fix a mistake than leave it up. If something on the site is out of date, inaccurate, or missing, we'd like to hear about it.
